Meet Amy

I started my journey with photography but I sure didn’t think it would end here and I couldn’t be happier!

After graduating high school in 2009 from Lancaster, WI, I moved to Rochester, MN. While in school there, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do with my life. I knew I didn’t want to have your typical office job and work from 9-5 every day of the week. I was looking for something a little more exciting! I decided to take some photography classes and fell in love with the process. A major downfall for me was that the classes were only offered for film cameras. As neat as it was to learn how to develop my own photos in a dark room, it wasn’t where technology was headed and I knew in my heart I would never have a dark room of my own. My school wasn’t able to offer a digital photography class at the time, so I decided to bench that idea for the time being, even though it completely bummed me out. I decided to venture into some music and theater classes instead, and thankfully I did because that is where I met my husband Jordan! We had some music classes together and the rest is history!

Jordan and I got engaged in February of 2012 and married in February 2014. We moved to La Crosse, WI to change things up a bit. He was working at Olive Garden while I found myself working a 9-5 job at a credit union. Even though I was not working my dream job, I still met some great people and some of our best memories come from our days living there. While we were there, my photography interests kicked in to high gear again. I bought my first DSLR camera with two kit lenses and self taught myself how to use it. I had a few friends let me take their wedding photos for free, just to get some practice. Looking back, those are some of the cringiest photos I have ever taken, but I am SO grateful for the chance to do it. I had finally found my photography niche. Weddings! The photos weren’t pretty, but hey, we all have to start somewhere right?

In the summer of 2015, Jordan and I decided to move back to Rochester to start a family and I, once again, put photography on the back burner. The process of having our first baby was a long and painful one. We had given up hope for a little while and decided to adopt our fur baby, Remy. He is a high energy Morkie(Maltese/yorkie) who buried his way straight into our hearts! Jordan got promoted to management and I was working in finance for a large hospital. In July of 2017 we were finally able to announce that we were pregnant! We bought our first house that year and on April 6, 2018, our red headed daughter, Natalie made her debut. Our other red headed baby boy, Niles, made his appearance shortly after on October, 29,2019.

While our babies were, well….babies, I started to pick up my camera again. I wanted all the pictures I could get of my kids. I started getting a little more serious with photography and started doing some more work and getting paid for a few sessions. It was hard to get out much though. Jordan was working LONG hours at work and I worked at 4am which meant bedtime at 7:30pm. In 2020 when everyone went on lockdown, I was working from home and Jordan was working even longer hours at the restaurant because they had to cut back on most of their staff. The pace of life we were living wasn’t working well with a baby and toddler, so, you guessed it, we moved again!

That brings us to where we are today, back in my hometown of Lancaster, WI. We sold our house, packed up, and moved with a 9 month old and 1 1/2 year old. Jordan is currently going back to school at UW-Platteville for secondary mathematics education and I have finally been able to focus on photography full time! I couldn’t be happier where I am today. I am a wife, mama, believer and wedding photographer. My first passion all those years ago has finally come full circle. I’m so grateful for all the in between moments but am so happy to finally be able to live out the job I’ve always wanted.

Each couple that I photograph has meaning and purpose in my own life. YOU are the reason I am able to do what I love and I want you to feel well cared for during your wedding planning season and of course, on your big day! I am truly thankful for each and every one of you who have booked with me and I cannot wait to be of service to my new clients!

Much love,

Amy
